Just a couple thought provoking questions for you jibblers...
Why do people say things like "cool as shit" and "cute as hell"?
Evolution of language! "As [profanity]", most likely originating in sensical contexts (though not necessarily), has grown to be an adverbial phrase modifying the preceding adjective (or adverb) to mean that the said adjective (or adverb) exists in the extreme. As this combination of words has become idiomatic, it is not subject to consistency with previous independent definitions of the constituent words, as the combination of words has gained meaning of its own.
